One of the UK’s best loved department stores is leading a step change on the use of data to drive decisioning. As part of this drive, they are hiring a number of new data, insight and analytical heads into their centralized Customer Insight function.

ROLE

This brand-new role will work as a business facing Category Insights Consultant, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to support the new range and category planning process within the business.

You will interact with all the different Business Units internally in order to ensure insights are used, continuously, to drive decisioning. Your key partner with be the Category Planning Lead, someone who has just been working closely with an external consultancy to implement a new range planning process. So you need strong stakeholder management skills, the ability to influence, engage and build relationships with BU leaders and heads and work collaboratively with this individual to support the roll out of a more customer led approach. You will need to be comfortable juggling multiple projects, so strong Project Management skills are also required as being in retail, you will work on sprints across two major seasonable peaks across the year (Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter) and then work on interjecting with key stakeholders outside of these peaks across the year.

Finally, you will also be responsible for driving category action from insight, as well as identifying new opportunities for more support required from insights and data and ensuring these leads are delivered back to your wider team.

YOU

You should have excellent communication skills, the ability to manage through change and ensure results are achieved. You will need experience in project coordination and delivery, influencing and engaging stakeholders and leading from the front.

Your background may be customer insight analytics, research or even management consultancy, as long as you have the skills to embed insights at the heart of a business, and the interpersonal skills to bring stakeholders along with you on that journey, then this would be a great fit.

POSITION – Category Insight Consultant

LOCATION – West London

SALARY – £50k – £60k plus excellent benefits & 10% bonus

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject; numerate subject, marketing or life sciences areas
  • Experience within a research insights, category management, trading insights, loyalty / CRM or customer insight environment
  • Ideally project and client management experience
  • Experience and solid understanding of consumer insights and how these can drive decisioing within a retail or FMCG environment (other large consumer business backgrounds considered)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver engaging insights on how to improve customer understanding and engagement
