CSR

We understand what an impact our everyday actions can have on our environment, both in terms of the culture we create in the office and how this supports our staff, and how we interact with the local community and environment at large.

For this reason we have set values and principles that all our employees are encouraged to follow, in our Corporate & Social Responsibility Policy. We offer our staff the chance to input into this policy with any suggestions they might have through an anonymous online questionnaire that is run quarterly.

These are just some of the things we have implemented:

  • Nominated charity of the year which staff are encouraged to fundraise towards (more about that below)
  • Time off to give blood
  • Minimising use of paper and printing only when necessary
  • Working in partnership with Waste Paper Solutions we recycle paper and packaging where possible
  • Encouraging employees to walk to work if they live in the area
  • Ride to Work scheme
  • Electronic timesheets system for all contractors
  • Turning off lights and computers at night

Charity of the Year

2011 saw us support the Kent Air Ambulance and we raised £5,693.90. We raffled, swore (but don’t tell our parents), ate cake (a lot), ran 10k, cycled 100k, took part in a Dragon Boat race and even jumped out of a plane !

Our staff made a monumental effort to help us raise this amazing amount and all contributed time and ideas, for which we thank them.

Blue Pelican Pirates

2012

This year we have decided against a Charity of the Year as our staff have contributed so much over the last 2, we felt they (and their families and friends who have sponsored them) needed a break.

This doesn’t mean we don’t have anything planned though. We have liaised with Voluntary Action Within Kent to identify a volunteering opportunity in the local community. Our staff were given time off to help prepare Dunorlan Park for the Jubilee Celebrations, renovating the public conveniences, doing some gardening and generally helped to get the park ready for the planned celebrations. More information about our work can be found here.

We are also planning to break a Guinness World Record (or potentially more than one). We have a day planned as part of our bi-annual team build this September to carry out a number of record attempts at Solomons, Tunbridge Wells as part of their Guinness World Records Team Challenge.
